we have had quite the social whirl here at taraloka recently. first of all we went to see a fantastic dance company called sampad performing a piece called motherland. (click the "hectic social whirl" header above to see their web page.) it was a really moving piece. according to their web:
Vibrant dance, live music and lyrical poetry come together to create Motherland - a compelling story of love, conflict, revenge and resolution set in a world of slavery and forced migration.
It tells a story of epic journeys through time and across continents in a celebration of different cultures, individual strengths and powerful emotions.
it was brilliant even though the venue was a school hall in wem! for those of you who don't know this bit of the world, wem is a wee small strange place about 8 miles from here.
then i found a salsa class in ellesmere - another small place near taraloka. well, i never knew salsa dancing was such a big thing round here. i really enjoyed it. great workout and brilliant rhythms.
and last but not least - the flicks in the sticks! movies in a local sports centre. we went to see amazing grace the other night which i found moving but a wee bit disappointing.
didn't know life in the country was so stimulating.
