hello from asia

hi all,

i am in a very strange internet cafe in thailand. full of teenagers playing video games but hey, it's cheap. extremely cheap.
so i had two weeks in india. not easy to get online while i was there so no blogging. internet connections were slow and frustrating and liable to cut out.

i had a great time though demanading. in two weeks i gave 12 programmes (two more public, the rest ladies classes), led two order days and two mitra days. i visited pune, mumbai,nagpur, amaravati and aurangabad. travelled on trains, buses, a jeep, taxi, rickshaw and even on the back of a motorbike! i met who knows how many people. hope i might get to write something while it is still in my mind though how can i capture in words such an experience -- the sights, sounds, smells. the friendliness, the poverty.

now in thailand for a holiday with carmen. have been to loads of temples and seen loads of images of the buddha -- and it all leaves me strangely untouched. so folkloric and commercial. oh well a week to go, maybe chaing mai will have somehere that touches me.
